Whenever I have a sore throat or cold or cough, my grandma will ask me to gargle with turmeric water and she would give me a glass of hot turmeric milk. What a miracle, I saw a good relief. So, I just thought of researching this magic medicine Turmeric.


Turmeric is a plant related to ginger, is grown throughout India,other parts of Asia and Central America. Turmeric has been used in Ayurveda medicine for many conditions like breathing problems, rheumatism, serious pain and fatigue. Today, turmeric is used as a dietary supplement for inflammation arthritis,stomach,skin,liver and gallbladder problems,cancer and other conditions.


Turmeric is a common spice and a major ingredient in curry powder. The primary active ingredient Curcuminoids are yellow and used to colour foods and cosmetics. Curcumin has been shown to be effective in treating chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, Alzheimer's and common malignancies like colon, stomach, lung, breast, and skin cancers.


Simply including turmeric in diet makes a lot of difference in your health. 1 tsp per day can be included daily in the diet. As you all know, turmeric supplements are available but should be taken after consulting a doctor.
